SCUBA Training/Classes
Scuba certification consists of 3 parts:
1. Knowledge Development, a traditional class where we cover dive theory and safety. You begin with the course materials and videos independently, at your leisure, with our online resources, then move on to review and pool when ready. Or set your own private group class for friends or family... whatever fits your schedule! This is the equivalent of PADI e-learning, but more affordable AND led by a real Instructor!
2. Pool session, where we get hands-on experience underwater, and learn valuable diving skills, using standard and easy to use dive equipment.
3. Four Open Water dives, done at your convenience. These “check-out” dives are the final step in certification, and can be done locally, or on one of our many dive trips throughout the year. OR, you can take your referral from class/pool training to finish your cert anywhere in the world!
We have options to complete any or all of these segments: see below!
- PADI Open Water Diver: Knowledge Development
It's never been easier to get started with your cert! This is the first part of PADI certification. It is incredibly convenient because we work together to do this around your schedule, at your convenience!
The Knowledge Development portion, sometimes called "classwork" or "book work", gets you ready for Pool Training and eventually checkout dives. You'll cover 5 sections from the course manual, each with a training video, and complete a set of basic chapter questions for each. You'll also take a series of 4 practice quizzes. After developing your basic scuba knowledge, you will meet online with a real Instructor for a comprehensive review. When ready, you'll take the general Open Water exam, which is just 50 multiple choice questions. When completed and passed (>75%), you will have your official PADI referral from the Instructor, to proceed in scheduling your pool training!
Pool training can be scheduled with our Instructors, or your referral can be given to any PADI Dive shop or Instructor, basically world-wide!
Cost: $145, and includes online course access, as well as professional, Instructor-led course review and interaction. Our Instructors have years of experience and broad diving knowledge, and provide you with face-to-face interaction online; something you won't get with an e-learning course! If you need one, we have the course manual available to be mailed to you as soon as you register, and you can begin with the videos and reviews immediately.
PADI Open Water Diver: Knowledge Development AND Pool Training
Class and pool training to get you checkout dive ready! All you need to get started is to contact us!
We bundle the Knowledge Development and the Pool Training together for a more affordable option! Parts 1 and 2 above cost $245 for all your course materials, class instruction and pool time, and all gear and tank rentals. If you need a PADI course manual, we have them to mail out to you or you can source one online. Friends and family are welcome to join you to train! Private instruction is slightly higher, contact us to inquire. Groups of family, friends, or coworkers can qualify for group discounts.
Once you have your class and pool complete, you may take a PADI Referral to complete your checkout dives (Part 3), on a vacation with a PADI Dive Shop anywhere around the world! Or continue with us for Part 3, on a dive trip.
Part 3 is considered separately, see below for checkout dive options.
Pool Session only
Have you completed the Knowledge Development portion already and need to do the pool? We have an option for that! If you have a referral from completing an e-learning course or completed the book/exam with another Instructor, we can pick up where you left off and get you in a pool session.
Cost: $185, includes your pool training time and all gear/tank rentals.
PADI Open Water Diver: Checkout dives
Part 3 of Scuba certification is considered separately, because there are so many options on when and where to do it!
Many divers take the referral option, where they complete class and pool work beforehand, then do checkout dives on a vacation.
We offer local lake dives as a basic option. These are done over 2 separate days (about 3-4 hours per session) where you will complete 2 dives each day, for a total of 4 dives. Lake dive checkouts are $245, and do include both dive days and all gear needed!
We also offer trips to Rocky Point, Mexico ($395 for checkout diving, including beachfront lodging), or you can check our calendar for a bit more exotic dive trip. We often go to places such as Cabo San Lucas, Florida, Hawaii, or the Caribbean.
In total, our costs are typically more affordable than most dive shops or resorts, plus the convenience of doing class and pool training in a scheduled class, or even from your home!
Advanced Open Water
Advanced Open Water certification is the next level beyond basic certification. This consists of independent knowledge review scheduled to fit YOUR schedule. Then, the student and instructor choose a series of 5 dives which fit the type of diving the student desires. Besides navigation and a deep dive, the diver can choose to do single dives from any of the specialty courses (see below), which include night, photography, videography, diver propulsion vehicle, wreck, and many more...
Advanced certification can be accomplished over several weeks, or in as little as a weekend. The five necessary dives can be accomplished at different times, or completed in as little as two days!
Cost:
$245, includes your course materials and certification card. Tank and gear rental can be arranged separately (many advanced divers have bought their own gear).
Rescue Diver
The PADI Rescue Diver Course: “Challenging” and “rewarding” best describe the PADI Rescue Diver course. Building upon your established diving experience, this course expands on what you already know about how to prevent problems, and how to manage them if they occur.
The fun part about this course is rising to challenges and mastering them. Most divers find this course both demanding and rewarding, and at the end, say it’s the best course they’ve ever taken.
What You Learn: self rescue; recognizing and managing stress in other divers; emergency management and equipment; rescuing panicked divers; rescuing unresponsive divers.
Cost and prerequisites:
$295, includes course materials and any rental gear needed. Must be Advanced Open Water certified and hold current (within 2 years) CPR/First Aid certification.
Divemaster
The first professional level in scuba diver training. Qualifies you to assist in teaching, to lead divers, and to work in the dive industry.
Certification and cost varies based on level of previous experience and logged dives, and ranges from a 2 week course to a semester-long internship.
Cost:
Variable, depending on dive needs (internship or straight certification). Expected that you own your own dive gear (BCD, Reg set, etc.)
SCUBA Tune-up
A scuba tune-up is recommended whenever you’ve been away from diving for months or even years to freshen up those rusty skills and prepare for your next dive adventure.
Email us at info@aquaticadiving.com to set a date for your personal tune-up! In many cases, this can be done in conjunction with an open-water pool session to give you access to a comprehensive skill and gear review.
Cost:
$145, which includes gear/tank rental, pool time, and a comprehensive, Instructor-led review!
